A century-old winery dedicated to old vine winemaking
This red wine comes from the Australian Gully Winds. Gully Winds is a winery owned by the 1847 Holdings Group. Located in Australia’s most famous Barossa Valley, it is a winery dedicated to the winemaking of old vines. Its history dates back to the end of the 19th century. It has been more than 120 years.
253 hectares of vineyards – wines grown
The Barossa Valley, where Gully Winds is located, is Australia’s most famous wine source. It is known internationally as the “City of Wine” and many internationally renowned wine brands are from this region.
Adhering to the concept of “growth of wine”, Gully Winds owns 53 hectares of vineyards and contracts 200 hectares of vineyards. The world’s most famous grape varieties including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon, Grenache, Cabernet Franc and Mourvedre are grown in the vineyard. The average age is over 30 years.
Wine Treasures – old vines that are carefully cared for like children
The most precious in the garden is as many as 15 hectares of old vines, including 5 hectares of 1928 old Vine Genna vines, 10 hectares of 1947 old vines, and some of the precious centuries-old vines.
Old vine grapes are very precious to any winery. As the vine ages, its yield will gradually decrease, but the quality of the grapes will increase relatively. This means that the fruit of the older vines will be more rich and condensed, and the quality of the wine will be more outstanding.
In order to protect these old vines, the vineyards are hand-picked because they extend the life of these old vines. Grape manager Robin said: “This vineyard can be said to be part of the history of Gully Winds. I take care of them like my own children.”
